It has come time for another Halloween filled with spooky fun for all. Here are a few local event selections. Feel free to add to the list in our comments section below.

Berger Park Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest
Thursday, Oct. 29, 6 p.m., Berger Park.
The Berger Park Advisory Council will be holding its 5th-annual Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest at The Waterfront Cafe (6205 N. Sheridan Road) on Thursday, Oct. 29th. Registration starts at 6 p.m. and the parade at 7 p.m. There is a $10 entry fee per dog entered into the contest. Every dog will get a goody bag, and the winning costumes will win gift baskets. Gangsters and Ghosts
Thursday, Oct. 29, 5 p.m., The Guesthouse Hotel.
This Thursday! Come on down to the Guesthouse Hotel for a pre-Halloween gathering — We’ll be talking about the ghosts of the Northside’s gangster past, and tell the stories of the area’s two historic cemeteries, Graceland and Boniface. (No tricks, just treats! We’ll also have some wine to sip on and snacks to nosh.) Hope to see you there, boys and ghouls!

A Murder of Crows: A Bakasana Workshop
Saturday, Oct. 31, 1-3 p.m., Yoga Tree Chicago. 
Celebrate All Hallow’s Eve with some yoga time at the spooky edge of arm balancing. This is an all-levels workshop, and variations will be provided so that everyone may discover what they can do in the pose. Learn the Forrest Yoga approachs to several variations of Bakasana, crow pose. Costumes are encouraged. Price: $40.

Ghostly Garden
Saturday, Oct. 31, 1-2 p.m., West Andersonville Neighbors Together.
A free, non-scary Halloween event designed for families with small children. Games, treats and prizes will be provided. Come in costume! The event will be between 1-2 p.m. in the West Andersonville Gardens on Ravenswood between Berwyn and Summerdale — please enter through the garden at Berwyn. Free.

Halloween Parade and Festival
Saturday, Oct. 31, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The 48th Ward’s 5th-annual community Halloween Parade and Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31. The festivities will begin with fun activities at 10 a.m. on the Peirce School playground, 1400 W. Gregory Ave., with the parade stepping off at 11 a.m. sharp and ending at Gethsemane Garden Center, 5739 N. Clark St. Free.
