Dogs Will Fly This Weekend In Edgewater

Have you ever seen a dog fly? Well, this weekend in Edgewater, you can. Brought to you by Bark Bark Club, see your canine pals do amazing things at the DockDogs stage during this weekend’s Edgefest Saturday and Sunday.

DockDogs is considered one of the world’s leading canine aquatic competitions. The dogs will compete in three events to test their agility and athleticism. They will retrieve, they will jump and they will swim — all to win the coveted award for each discipline.

DockDogs is a truly unique addition to Edgefest (not to mention any fest in Chicago). Ally Brisbin of the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce explained, “DockDogs was looking for summer festivals in Chicago, and we lucked out because we are one of the few festivals that have enough space to accommodate them. EdgeFest is the only street fest that DockDogs will be at this summer.”

DockDogs is for all pooches, pros and novices alike. It gives all residents a chance to see how their pets will stack up against the competition. “We are excited to have DockDogs at EdgeFest this year because it will expand our audience and bring new people into the festival,” Brisbin added. “We expect that a lot of people will come just to see DockDogs, and hopefully stay to enjoy the music, food, and vendors.”

DockDogs at EdgeFest is Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 1-2, on Broadway from Thorndale to Ardmore. It runs from 1-7 p.m. on Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. The event is open to the public to watch, but all entrants into the competition pay a small fee to test their canine’s skills.
