CLAROVISTA GETS CLEAR! New stores announced. But Wait…..

CLAROVISTA GETS CLEAR! New stores announced.

Remember in 2007 when the community was abuzz with happiness that a beautiful new complex with 160 luxury condos and several new storefront businesses was under construction? It would occupy a normally unpleasant corner at Granville and Broadway that needed a big facelift quick. It was to be the perfect addition to Edgewater but then the real estate bubble burst in 2008 and the complex found itself in big trouble. 5 years have gone by and all the units finally sold but the retail spots remained vacant (except for Aldi) due mostly to an unattractive $20 million debt. According to DNA,That debt since has been negotiated down to $6.5 million and last week Thorofare Capital gave the developer a $7.9 million loan to boost. Now tenants are interested in occupying the vacancies, and that is very good news for the area.

Now here is the unclear part. The Clarovista will house a Sleepy’s mattress store and a new Nova Spinal Care storefront. Sound familiar? Well both businesses occupy different storefronts currently on Broadway between Berwyn and Catalpa Streets. Does this mean those storefronts will now be vacant? After a couple calls, Sleepy’s has assured us both locations will be serving Edgewater. However, no word on Nova just yet – but I am assuming they will most likely move.
