Cars towed from Winthrop Avenue due to incorrect signage
October 13, 2011 / By Lyle BrightWhile the majority of Chicagoans are familiar with the temporary “No Parking/Tow Zone” signs often posted along residential streets, the idea that your vehicle could be towed due to an error on the signs seems unlikely. Regardless, that seems to be what occurred yesterday morning. According to an Edgeville Buzz reader “I woke up to a police officer writing tickets and a tow truck pulling cars away on my block of Winthrop (between Thorndale and Glenlake) due to continuing construction.” Apparently the signs originally stated 11-12 to 11-18 as the no parking date, and a number of vehicles were left on Winthrop overnight. The same reader snapped a picture of the signs, which appeared to have been altered to read 10-12 to 10-18.
