Cars towed from Winthrop Avenue due to incorrect signage

Signage as seen on Winthrop Ave. yesterday morning.

While the majority of Chicagoans are familiar with the temporary “No Parking/Tow Zone” signs often posted along residential streets, the idea that your vehicle could be towed due to an error on the signs seems unlikely. Regardless, that seems to be what occurred yesterday morning. According to an Edgeville Buzz reader “I woke up to a police officer writing tickets and a tow truck pulling cars away on my block of Winthrop (between Thorndale and Glenlake) due to continuing construction.” Apparently the signs originally stated 11-12 to 11-18 as the no parking date, and a number of vehicles were left on Winthrop overnight. The same reader snapped a picture of the signs, which appeared to have been altered to read 10-12 to 10-18.

They have had these signs up for weeks now on our part of Winthrop and have not been doing any work for some time now.

LOL…..This is why when I see Signs near where I park…I photograph them before I leave the street.

Prima Facia evidence if ticketed or towed and then I shame the Desk Sgt to get the PD tickets non-suited on the spot.

I watched a middle-aged dude in glasses scamper up Kenmore correcting the signs with a marker that morning, after noticing the signs with “11” even earlier that same day.
