It is the possible news that a lot of Edgewater residents have been waiting for. What business will be occupying the long vacant storefront space on the corner of 5600 N. Ridge at Broadway?

Well the waiting may be over. In an article put out by DNAinfo today, they announced that Baker and Nosh had in fact, signed a lease for the space yesterday. However, there has been no comment put out by the company or the owner, Bill Millholland about the move as of yet. So if there is a projected opening date, it has yet to be announced.

Baker and Nosh currently operates at 1303 W. Wilson Ave. in Uptown. The company started by Millholland has received much praise since it opened a few years ago. The restaurant offers gourmet sandwiches, breads, soups and pastries with both indoor and outdoor seating (weather permitting of course). They opened a small store in the adjoining storefront recently where they sell other items such as specialty cheese and accompaniments.

The article released today did not mention if they were closing the Uptown location or if this was in fact, a second storefront. However, an Uptown Update Facebook post today clearly said that Edgewater was to be their second location.

The 5600 N. Ridge building which is owned and managed by FLATS Chicago, has received much attention in the past year after it underwent an $800,000 renovation.
