Andersonville Store Scout Opens Unique “Côncept” Pop-Up Shop

“Why not surround yourself with beauty?” That is the question one Andersonville furniture and design store is asking its customers. To help aid in the search for the the perfect pieces, they have opened a new pop-up shop that features exceptional mid-century moderne finds meant to inspire interior happiness.

Since opening 17 years ago, Scout at 5221 N Clark in Andersonville has been seeking out an eclectic mix of furniture, objects and art that has roused our sense of design. That quest has led the store to open a new pop-up called Côncept just a couple doors North at 5225 N Clark (the former Candyality space).

Offering a curated selection from some of the biggest names in mid-century moderne, the space has been transformed in order to showcase fine furniture. With peices from design legends such as Milo Baughman, Florence Knoll, Harvey Probber, Mies van der Rohe, and George Nelson, familiar forms that have transformed so many interior spaces in the past can now be relocated into your own apartment living room.

“Côncept was opened to show people the best of what we can do,” said Scout Design Associate Judine O’Shea. “We’ve been sourcing items and art for months in anticipation of the store and we’re so happy with the outcome.”

In order to add to the mix, fine rug provider Oscar Isberian will be partnering with Scout at the pop-up to offer a unique selection of carpets. There will also be number of local artists and artisans represented in order to continue the store’s strong support for Chicago’s art community.

O’Shea added that it is always important to change things up in the retail game which was what helped lead them to the pop-up idea. Scout hopes to take the Côncept show on the road to other Chicago communities and the Northern suburbs.

Opening just a couple weekends ago, customers can shop at Côncept  Thursday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through March 31.
