Clark street has lost a local floral and landscaping store which has served the area for a decade. Last week, Marguerite Gardens at 5059 N. Clark in Andersonville, quietly closed its doors for the last time.

In the storefront’s window, which has been covered with brown paper, a small note was left taped to the glass. On the white piece of paper, Marguerite Gardens flower shop team expressed their sadness about the closure and that they will continue to do business in the area via their other location.

“We are sad to announce that we will be closing our shop on Clark Street. We have had a great ten years here and have met so many wonderful people, families and their four legged friends. Thank You! We will miss you,” the note read.

The letter continued to assure Andersonville customers that their floral needs will continue being met by contacting their West Town location at 2444 W. Chicago Ave.

According to the company’s website, Marguerite Gardens was started 20 years ago by Marguerite Gluck as a landscaping service to Chicago’s ‘finest residences’. The business specializes in one-of-a-kind perennial gardens and container gardens as well as floral arrangements.
