Starting out as a small flower show in 2015, the Andersonville Flower Show has grown significantly in just the past three years.
The event, which takes place all along the Andersonville strip, will be held April 22-23. The floral show was originally conceived by neighborhood store Mercantile M in order to help launch spring merchandise found in Andersonville’s home décor, furniture, and vintage shops. It has since expanded to include a large group of the area’s businesses (currently 28 to be exact).
“This isn’t your typical ‘Flower Show’ showcasing only live plants,” said the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce. “We have businesses taking the concept and coming up with wonderfully creative ideas for spring window displays, shop takeovers, floral-themed food, and interactive workshops.”
According to a press release put out by the Chamber of Commerce, expect to see some unique surprises such as a “Bread and Roses” themed vision taken from the political speech and slogan by Rose Schneiderman at Women and Children First Bookstore, 5233 N Clark.
There will also be some unique collaborations including the return of Marguerite Gardens, who will do a pop-up at Foursided, 5061 N Clark. This year local restaurants are getting involved too. Floral cocktails and edible flowers will be showcased at Vincent Restaurant, 1475 W Balmoral.
