Andersonville Event This Weekend Will Focus On Eco-Friendly Initiatives

Since 1962, the Winona Foster Carmen Winnemac (WFCW) Block Club has been helping their section of the Andersonville neighborhood grow. On April 15, the organization will hold their FREE fourth annual Clean Up, Green Up event.

This year proves to be their biggest party yet. The event focuses on the environment and includes booths about native gardening, rain barrels, Earth boxes, essential oils, kambucha, composting, recycling and more. There will also be bike tune-ups!

The event will include many activities for kids. This year the Story Bus will join the fun. Created by master teachers and Kohl Children’s Museum designers for preschool and kindergarten students, StoryBus brings play-based learning to more than 15,000 Chicagoland children annually.

“We created this event as a way to bring neighbors together  to clean up our neighborhood while promoting eco-friendly (green) initiatives,” said WFCW Block Club Treasurer Mat Olson. “I love interacting with the kids at our potting tables and teaching them about native planting. We hope to inspire people to become engaged in their local communities while promoting green initiatives.”

The event which takes place this Saturday will be from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Carmen and Clark.
