One of the newest traditions of the season is back again, the CTA Holiday Train! And what a sight it is. The six car train swooshes along its designated CTA lines for that day and the smiles become instantaneously infectious.

No matter daytime or nighttime, the Holiday spirit is alive on the train with a very special passenger, Santa himself. Assisted by his elves, they pass out candy to all riders. Thousands of twinkling lights, candy cane adorned hand poles, and so many red bows and garland they will make your head spin. Ahhhhh… the Holidays are upon us.

So how can you get a glimpse of the train? The CTA has announced which lines Santa will be on that day. The train generally operates from about 1pm to 8pm on weekends and 3pm to 7pm on select weekdays (schedules for each rail line will vary), and will make stops at all stations along the respective routes.┬áThe times of departure will be announced on the CTA’s site as they become available.
