Unique Italian Inspired Korean Restaurant To Open In Andersonville

A new Korean restaurant that draws influence from Italian cuisine is set to open in Andersonville.

Owner Jennifer Kim, who recently closed the Lakeview restaurant Snaggletooth, will fulfill a dream of opening her first Korean eatery. Kim will call it Passerotto or ‘little sparrow’ in Italian.

Passerotto will be located at 5420 N. Clark, a space that housed a string of restaurants over the last several years including In Fine Spirits, Brixton and Taverna 750. Kim is hoping her restaurant will be a success there by offering her unique take on food.

Kim is Asian-American and her boyfriend is from central Italy. During their time together, Kim learned that there is a wonderful connection between Korean and Italian cuisines. She does not consider her fresh take on Korean cuisine as ‘fusion’ and it is definitely not ‘traditional’ either.

The 42-seat restaurant will offer beer, small production wine and craft cocktails inspired by both Korea and Italy. Kim is expecting to open the doors to Passerotto in February of next year.
