One of the sure signs of Spring is when the city street sweepers chug along Edgewater’s local streets picking up all the debris left over after a long winter. In our 48th Ward, street sweeping will officially begin tomorrow, April 1.

Temporary parking restrictions will be posted the day before the work is scheduled to begin on any street to ensure curb-to-curb cleaning. However, some arterial streets have permanently posted signs that specify a once-per-week period when parking is prohibited for street sweeping.

This Friday and Monday, the streets first effected are located within East/West Boundary Broadway (1200) – Clark (1600). That will be followed by streets within East/West Boundary Broadway (1200) – Ridge(1600) on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the City of Chicago, they will issue $50 street sweeping tickets to every car parked on streets subject to cleaning from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on listed days. Furthermore, all parked cars are also subject to towing and additional fines.
