From Street Festivals To Second Storefront, Transit Tees Opening In Andersonville

The Andersonville area is proud of its ‘local first’ movement, and businesses such as Transit Tees are a true testament to its strength. After years of selling their unique goods at summer festivals  and many pop-up stores, the Chicago-themed merchandise business will open their second retail location at 5226 N. Clark St.

A unique business approach and years of experience in the screen printing industry has given rise to a talented group of graphic designers that have created work for everyone from nonprofits to corporations. Their artwork takes many of the typical Chicago visuals we see everyday, such as subway maps, street signs and city seals, and reinterprets them into original designs that are printed on merchandise such as t-shirts and mugs.

The company, which was founded in 2001 by creative director Tim Gillengerten, has been in Andersonville at the Galleria co-op store across the street from their new location for some time now. The new space will offer them much more retail space to sell additional goods. Transit tees other store is located at 1371 N. Milwaukee Ave in Wicker Park.

Very excited to announce our 2nd location in Andersonville!” Transit Tees Facebook page reads. “We’ve been a part of the Andersonville community for a while now and we’re so happy to have own own space.”

According to the company, the new location will open its doors and start selling their locally-made goods on July 7. They are promising to have many opening deals and events.
