Rendering Released Of Swedish Bakery Building Transformation, To Become ‘The Clark’

Swedish Covenant Hospital rendering of ‘The Clark’

After closing its doors almost two years ago, the Swedish Bakery at 5348 N. Clark has left a hole in many resident’s hearts and a valuable piece of property sitting vacant on Clark Street. But now the owner is completing the final touches to the building which will see a major transformation.

It was announced earlier this year that Swedish Covenant Hospital signed a ten-year lease occupying the property as an outpatient facility. Since then, the facade of the building has undergone a big facelift and the interiors are being gutted. The new facility will be called The Clark and will be specializing in primary care, women’s health, and integrative and functional medicine.

With the main Swedish Covenant hospital a couple miles west of Andersonville, they hope that the convenience of a nearby doctor’s office in conjunction with its own Swedish heritage will be a community draw to their services.  The hospital also hopes to attract a younger audience with their new Andersonville facility. With 45% of Edgewater/Andersonville’s population being under 35, the hospital sees potential with the younger residents and their small children.

According to Swedish Covenant Hospital, they are hoping to open their doors by the end of 2018.

They are also hiring service-oriented and experienced Medical Assistants and Administrative staff. Click here.
