With tensions running high this month in the race for the Democratic nomination for the next president, billionaire Mike Bloomberg has been the target of multiple incidents of vandalism at several campaign office locations including Edgewater. Now police have released surveillance images of the suspects in the act and Edgeville Buzz has obtained an additional photo from a nearby security camera.

Bloomberg has been on the defense, coming under fire for inappropriate behavior directed towards women and support of controversial policies that targeted people of color when he was the Republican Mayor of New York City. Those actions have put him in the hot seat as the other Democratic candidates are exposing his past discretions and firing up their supporters.

Over the past two weeks, the Bloomberg campaign offices in Ann Arbor, Flint and Knoxville have all been targets of vandalism. At about 1:11 a.m. on Monday, the Bloomberg Edgewater office was hit. Chicago police received a call about derogatory words spray painted across the front of the property at 1130 W. Bryn Mawr. They arrived to find the words ‘Racist,’ ‘sexist,’ ‘GOP,’ and ‘oligarch’ boldly spray painted in orange on the front windows.

With Chicago Police releasing surveillance photos of the suspects this afternoon, Edgeville Buzz has obtained yet another image from a security camera in a nearby alleyway. All of the photos show three individuals dressed in black. Two of them are wearing dark scarves on the bottom half of their faces and the other in a hoodie with a white mask.

The Bloomberg campaign release a statement in regard to the incidents saying:

“This act of vandalism against our Chicago office mirrors those we’ve seen in recent weeks in states across the country,” said Bloomberg National Traveling Press Secretary Galia Slayen in a statement. “While we don’t yet know who is responsible, we know these attacks echo divisive language used by the Sanders campaign and its supporters. Democrats need to come together if we are going to defeat Donald Trump, and Senator Sanders needs to condemn these attacks and end his campaign’s dangerous rhetoric that is encouraging his supporters to engage in this behavior.”

There is no one in custody at this time in connection to the Edgewater vandalization. Anyone with information on the vandalism is asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.
