Edgewater’s First 5k Run/Walk This September

OpenPhotoThe Edgewater Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Alderman Harry Osterman, Star Events, and 11 local schools to produce the first annual Edgewater 5k Run/Walk.

The Edgewater 5k provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy everything Edgewater has to offer. Produced by Star Events, Chicago’s award-winning event company which specializes in producing world-class community celebrations and festivals, the event allows participants to get moving with their family, their friends, or even their dogs.

The race route begins in front of the historic Sovereign Apartments at Granville and Kenmore and heads east to Sheridan Road. Runners will head south on Sheridan Road, a rare opportunity to run in the street, as they are dwarfed by the towering lakefront high rise buildings! The route turns east at Ardmore to the northernmost part of the scenic lakefront path, heading south past Kathy Osterman Beach. The run will take participants back in time to the Roaring ‘20s, past the famed Edgewater Beach Building. Rounding the corner of the Foster Beach concessions, the route meanders along the lakefront before turning around and heading back through the park.

Runners will gather post-race for snacks, then head to brunch at one of our local spots before returning to Granville Ave. for the Edgewater Fall Art Fair, featuring over 90+ artists, two stages and a beer garden.
There is no shortage to post-race brunch options in Edgewater! Stay close and dine on Granville Ave., or stretch your legs and head south to Bryn Mawr Ave. Either way, you won’t be disappointed!
