Edgewater Chamber Partners With Loyola To Bring Match.com CEO Sam Yagan To Speak

Sam YaganAs current CEO of Match.com, Sam Yagan has brought his unique style of professional expertise to the world of love and romance. Yet he has done so much more over the last decade. In 1999, he co-founded SparkNotes, a free study guide for students which covers everything from literature and poetry to math and economics. Then in 2003, he co-founded OKCupid, a friendship and dating site with instant messaging and member-created questions and quizzes.

This Harvard and Stanford degree earning entrepreneur has accomplished so much in his life. Not only was Yagan named to Crain’s “40 Under 40″ in Chicago in 2011, he also was ranked in TIME Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential People in the World, 2013.

Now on Friday, February 6, 2015, Yagan will share his broad spectrum of entrepreneurial knowledge with the Edgewater community. The Edgewater Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with Loyola Limited and Rogers Park Business Alliance for an evening that should both inspire and entertain.

Edgewater Chamber of Commerce’s Ally Brisbin feels very privileged to be co-sponsoring the event. She said, ” We were planning out the Chamber’s year and we really wanted to bring in a high profile tech entrepreneur. Sam Yagan was on our short list, so we were really excited to hear he was going to be in the area.” That is when the Chamber was asked to co-sponsor the event, and the rest just fell into place. Ms. Brisbin added, “It is personal for me as well. Not only did SparkNotes help me through college,  I also met my partner on OKCupid.”

The event will be held on February 6, 2015 at 6 p.m. in the Galvin Auditorium, Sullivan Center, Loyola University.  For more information call the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce at (773) 561-6000 or ally@edgewater.org
