Edgewater and Andersonville Continue To Rank High, Strong Growth In Home Sales/Prices

20091228104005Edgewater and Andersonville continue to get attention from both media sources and real estate experts as the top neighborhoods to live, work and play. The most recent comes from internet real estate powerhouse Trulia, which named Edgewater in its top five most popular communities. Chicago Near North, Lincoln Park and the Loop were the only areas to outrank, respectively.

Trulia is publishing that year-over-year price per square foot is up 25.9% in 2015.  It also currently finds Edgewater homes selling with a median price of $207,000 (up 16.6%, or $29,500 year-over-year). Chicago in general was up only 5.9% in median sales price.

With an average home listing price of $272,502, there are 337 homes currently on the market.  Trulia also shows that homes have been moving well, with 458 residences considered ‘recently sold’. On the downside, there are 140 foreclosures.

Trulia, which is headquartered in San Francisco, is an online residential real estate site for home buyers, sellers, renters and real estate professionals. It lists properties for sale and rent as well as tools and information that can be useful in the home search process. With 57 million monthly users and a 2013 revenue of $144 million, Trulia and its parent company Zillow are leaders in the online real estate game.

Back in January of this year EVB reported that Redfin, another online real estate leader, named Andersonville No. 7 of its Top 10 hottest neighborhoods nationwide. It was also the only neighborhood listed in the Midwest. Redfin’s decision included listing page view increases, favorites on redfin.com and Redfin “Hot Homes” in each neighborhood.
