Another Restaurant Closes At 5413 N. Clark In Andersonville

summerdale-12The Andersonville storefront at 5413 N. Clark St. has been plagued by short lived eateries over the past few years after the old Ole Ole closed in 2010. In 2012, Marigold restaurant opened it doors, but closed them one year later. In late 2013, another restaurant opened at the same location, Bull Horns Taco Bar. They only lasted a few months.

Unfortunately, 5413 N. Clark St. has unexpectedly claimed another restaurant, Summerdale. It opened just one year ago. Marty Fosse who owns successful nearby restaurants Acre and Anteprima was one of a few owners who started the restaurant. With its unique ‘Americana’ menu and Andersonville nostalgia interior, many felt this was the business to finally succeed here.

summerdale-11In a letter posted on the door of Summerdale, dated Nov. 9, the staff of the restaurant thanked the community for making the place ‘special’. The note added, “The staff will never forget the kindness and community we felt here. Thank you, we will see you around the hood.”

A post on Summerdale’s Facebook today read, “Thank you to all of our staff and guests over the past year. We are sad that we have closed our doors, but glad we got to meet all of you.”

After the closing of Bull Horns in 2014, many took to social media wondering if the space at 5423 N. Clark St. was in fact, cursed. One thing is for sure, the turn over of four restaurants in five years is not a good sign. Others feel that the space simply needs the right concept and business model to succeed.
