Local Desserts Take Center Stage In Andersonville Next Weekend

Over twenty restaurants in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood will showcase their sweetest and most delicious wares during the eighth annual Andersonville Dessert Crawl on Sunday, October 26, 2014, from 2:00-5:00PM.

Participants will pick up their Dessert Crawl “passport” and then proceed to the participating restaurants and stores for tasting-sized portions at each location.

This year choose between two great routes. Tickets for each route are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event.  A current listing of which restaurants are on each route (and what they are serving!) is below.

Purchase your tickets here, and then pick up your Dessert Crawl ‘passport’ at the Swedish American Museum, 5211 N. Clark St., starting any time after 1:00 pm the day of the event.

CANDY CORN ROUTE ($20)

Andersonville Brewing (Hamburger Mary’s) – Mary’s famous fruit cobbler
Jerry’s – Bread pudding with whiskey sauce
Kopi Café – Cinnamon-raisin rugelach
Let Them Eat Chocolate – Your choice from an assortment of gourmet chocolates
Ranalli’s of Andersonville – Assorted cheesecakes
Salted Caramel (at the Andersonville Galleria) – Salted bourbon caramels
Starbucks – Washington apple cake
Swedish Bakery – Assortment of Swedish, Butter and Fancy Cookies
Terry’s Toffee (at the Andersonville Galleria) – Assortment of gourmet toffee
Urban Orchard – Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams
Vincent – Butterscotch panna cotta with shortbread
The Wooden Spoon – Peanut butter whoopee pies

CARAMEL APPLE ROUTE ($20)

Andies Restaurant – Pomegranate cheesecake
Fireside Restaurant – Wild cherry mousse and bread pudding with bourbon sauce
First Slice – Apple cranberry streusel pie bites
George’s Ice Cream and Sweets – Samples of George’s favorites: Zanzibar and Snap-o-lantern
JB’s Deli – A selection of brownies, truffles, banana bread, and lemon bars
m. henry – A selection Autumn cakes and pies from the m. henry bakery
My Private Chef (at In Fine Spirits) – Blood orange mousse with ginger and a pirouette wafer
Noodle Zone – Sweet banana in coconut milk
Potbelly – Mini oatmeal and chocolate brownie cookies
Svea Restaurant – Swedish rice pudding with lingonberry
Swedish Bakery – Assortment of Swedish, Butter and Fancy Cookies
Taste of Lebanon – Baklava with honey and nuts
