The lakefront path has been repaved and is now open for residents to use.

The project has separate the trail into two paths – one for bikes and the other for foot traffic. The ambitious project headed by the Chicago Park District has been a work in progress. The trail’s renovation has occurred in segments since Spring 2017 and should be completed this year. The new path is expected to enhance the trail experience and ensure the safety of its users.

According to the 48th Ward office, special lighting will be added to the path to improve safety. They also mentioned that they are monitoring use of the path and will be meeting with the Park District regarding improved signage on Foster Avenue.
Alderman Harry Osterman has organized a neighborhood bike ride tomorrow that will not only utilize the many new and improved bike lanes in the area, but will also tour many of Edgewater’s vibrant public art works. The ride will start in front of the Broadway Armory, 5917 N. Broadway, at 9 a.m.
