It’s exciting to see new female faces in the director’s chair and this weekend a new indie movie will be filming on Granville with two women behind the wheel. Caitlin Parrish who currently writes for CBS’s ‘Under the Dome’ wrote the play turned movie script and is co-directing it with long time collaborator Erica Weiss. The indie is titled ‘The View From Tall’ and has been stirring a lot of buzz as it has been filming all around Chicago lately.

The film’s star, Amanda Drinkall, is known for some of her Chicago plays including the Goodman’s ‘Venus In Fur’, but this will be her big screen debut. She plays a teenage girl who has been shunned at school for many reasons which include her height, her mature behavior and a sexual fling with her English teacher. She is appointed by the courts a therapist, which is played by Michael Patrick Thornton (of ABC’s ‘Private Practice’ fame), who she forms a tight friendship with.

This female power house movie does not end with just its fantastic directors and star though. According to ScreenMag.com The Producer is Amanda Pflieger, Co-Producer Mary Kay Cook, Director of Photography Stephanie Dufford and Production Designer Amanda Brinton. All these women have been a force to reckon with in the acting world, so look for possible awards in the future.

How will the residents of Granville be affected this weekend? The NorthEast corner of Broadway and Granville will be heavily used. From 8 a.m. Saturday until 4 a.m. Sunday look for both parking and sidewalk restrictions on the North side of Granville between Broadway to the Red Line stop.
