New Andersonville All-Day Breakfast Diner Set To Open This Month

The south end of the Andersonville strip is seeing some big changes, hoping to sway customers to head south of Foster Ave. With fresh businesses offering unique options such as Bar Roma and the Chicago Magic Lounge (opening later this year), a new all-day breakfast diner will be joining the troops soon.

The Dollop diner is set to open mid-June in the first floor corner retail space of the new condo complex at 5060 N. Clark St. The location will offer the company a 50-seat, 1,600 sq. ft. restaurant that is designed to be a modern take on the classic Chicago diner. The interior will be clad in rich wood and shiny chrome. A large outdoor patio will be available in the warmer months.

Owner Dan Weiss, who owns ten Dollop Coffee Shops throughout Chicago, is poised to diverge from his normal business. This will be the first of his Dollop businesses to offer a full breakfast menu. The food will be served with counter-service and possible runners on the weekends. Weiss’ longtime friend Keith Kreuser, who is Boltwood’s beverage director in Evanston, will be the chef.

Expect many comfort food staples such as waffles and house-made doughnuts. They will also serve draft cocktails and beer.
