Chicago Magazine Highlights Edgewater In New Video, Watch It!

Edgewater was recently named one of Chicago’s top neighborhoods to live in by Chicago Magazine, and they have now created a video that highlights some of the wonderful things our neighborhood has to offer. The video focuses on our our rich history, beautiful architecture, active business corridor, small local businesses with big operations behind the scenes, our proximity to the water, community centers like the Broadway Armory and so many other assets.

Alderman Harry Osterman is featured in the video and affirms, “This is just a small sample of the incredible residents, businesses and organizations that work day in and day out to make Edgewater one of Chicago’s ‘best places to live.’ Edgewater’s most appealing quality is its rich diversity. We will continue to work together to make it an even more vibrant community for all who call it home.”

Two of our favorite small businesses, Metropolis Coffee and Sauce and Bread, are featured. With storefronts that serve the community and mass production in the back, these two businesses have intentionally chosen Edgewater as their home because of how accessible and accommodating it is for independent business owners.

Metropolis Coffee co-owner Tony Dreyfuss said, “I think you get this kind of great combination of space, affordability, and centralization that makes it possible. Doing what we did would have been near impossible in any other community. Edgewater was fertile ground for us to start our company.”

The video is a great tribute to what makes our home unique, but there are so many other things that are worth mentioning that did not make it into that video. Edgewater is the home to four Chicago theater companies that have all been Jeff nominated in the last year. Edgewater Glen is home to some of the city’s oldest mansions and has some of the most beautiful back yards of the city. Our bars and restaurants continue to make the top lists of foodie magazines and blogs. Our newly designed Edgewater library Branch Manager recently won a prestigious award, Neighborhood Services Outstanding Manager of the Year.

With so many things to brag about, perhaps there should be a few follow-up videos to cover all the many things that make Edgewater one of the best places to live in Chicago.
