Whole Foods To Present New Edgewater Store Plans, Seeks Liquor License

WHOLE_FOODS2Construction of the new Whole Foods at 6009 N. Broadway has been in full swing. With a vastly different interior layout than the previous Dominick’s grocery store, the opening of the new Edgewater store is not expected until sometime in 2015. With much anticipation, many residents have been looking forward to an update on the progress.

Now we will have the chance. Whole Foods will conduct a community meeting at the Edgewater Library, 6000 N. Broadway on October 2, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. It will be in the second floor community room of the library. They will be presenting plans and hopefully a future timeline of the project.

They are also seeking the approval to sell and serve alcohol within the store as it is not currently permitted.  On a Whole Foods Facebook events page geared towards the general public, “The purpose of this meeting is for Whole Foods Market to present its plans for a new store at 6009 N. Broadway and to discuss the lifting of the moratorium to allow for the selling of package goods as well as for customers to consume on the premises. ” They concluded, “Whole Foods Market and their attorney will be on hand to talk about this request and to answer any questions you might have. Your attendance and input are extremely important in regards to this project. If you have any questions please call the 48th Ward’s Public Service Office at 773-784-5277 or email to harry@48thward.org.”

With so many residents anxiously waiting for the store’s arrival, this is a chance to get a glimpse of the project and add your input to the process.
