Two Shot On Argyle Red Line Platform, Trains Delayed During Rush Hour Commute

Another shooting incident has hit Argyle Ave. which is located in the 48th Ward. Two people were shot on the Argyle Red Line platform just before rush hour traffic causing big delays for evening commuters.

According to police, the two men were struck by the bullets around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon. A 34-year-old male sustained gunshot wounds to his back, abdomen, buttocks and groin. He was taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition. The other person, a 41-year-old male, received a graze wound but declined medical treatment.

The incident caused Argyle street to be closed and the CTA temporarily halted train traffic between  Howard and Addison. Trains eventually resumed service at all stops except Argyle due to the ongoing crime scene investigation.

Police said that both victims were targeted by the shooter and both have a criminal past. The shooting suspect remains at large.

Argyle Ave. has been a hotspot for recent gun violence including a shooting incident just a week ago. Alderman Harry Osterman said that the 20th District has increased police presence in the Argyle area and his office is working to have a new light and security camera installed.
