Teen Fatally Struck By Red Line Train At Granville In Apparent Suicide

A teenager was struck and killed by a red line train as it approached the Granville station in Edgewater late Saturday evening.
According to police, the 17-year-old boy died in what appears to be a suicide. No other information was given about the death.
The incident caused the Chicago Transit Authority to announce a service disruption around 10:40 a.m. with trains running only between Belmont Ave. and 95th Street. Trains started running normal service to the affected stations around 1 a.m., however bypassing the Granville station.
