After a search for a new retail location, an independent, brick-and-mortar Logan Square bookstore is looking for a ‘fresh start’ at an Andersonville storefront that will help them continue to flourish in the retail game.

Unchartered books will be moving to 5140 N. Clark which will provide them a bigger space and allow customers to buy a larger selection of goods. Winning Chicago Reader’s Best New Bookstore award in 2012, the shop is mostly known for their specialty selection of hand-picked used titles and local books and magazines that they sell on consignment. The store also sells locally made crafts, candles, and upcycled book art.

After serving the Logan Square community at 2620 N. Milwaukee for seven years, the new storefront will also give the business a remodeled and more inviting interior. The floor plan also allows them to continue holding special events and several recurring monthly series such as book and poetry readings.

“We are sad to say goodbye to Logan Square, but we are overjoyed to expand,” said company management on their website. “Through these changes, we pledge to continue bringing you the books, zines, and exploration-friendly character you already know and love but in a cleaner, bigger, more functional space. It will be the same bookstore, but better equipped to serve our customers and community. We are so excited to see you in Andersonville soon.”

The store will remain open in Logan Square through late June. According to the company, they hope to open the Andersonville location on July 1, 2019.
