After 8 Years In Andersonville, Room Service Will Close At End Of May

room-service-1Andersonville retail store Room Service at 5438 N Clark St. has announced on their Facebook page that they will officially be closing their store on May 28, 2016.

The business serviced the neighborhood for eight years.  They specialize in vintage mid-century modern furnishings, decorative objects, art and garden elements for the home. Many items in the shop were consignment pieces from small independent designers.

With the retail game constant evolving in Andersonville and around the nation, small businesses are finding it increasingly difficult to keep their brick and mortar stores open. In a statement on Room Service’s Facebook page, they thanked their customers and talked briefly about their future plans.

“As the saying goes, many good things come to an end,” said owner Jim Jostes. “The face of retail is ever-changing, and with that, I will begin the process of a new concept which I envision to be greater and more exciting than anything I have ever done.”

The store will be having a 40% off closing sale starting today, May 13. Everything will be on sale (except select consignment pieces) including furniture, home accessories, plants, lighting and personal accessories.

With the loss of another unique local business, Jostes finished his letter by saying, “We too, have been so proud to be a part of the great design community that still continues to flourish with your support in Andersonville. With that said, please continue to shop in the shops, eat and drink at all of our stellar dining and drinking establishments and patronize the service businesses of our local community so that it will remain the GREAT neighborhood that it is.”
