Andersonville’s Summerdale Restaurant Under New Ownership

summerdale Andersonville’s restaurant Summerdale that recently opened up in the fall of 2014, is now under new ownership. Local business owner Marty Fosse alongside a few of his business partners have put out a statement regarding the new collaboration. The establishment will continue and maintain everything as it currently is with no major changes being made to the restaurant, food, or staff. Same game, with different owners in the background.  The new ownership is comprised of Leah Allen, Marty Fosse, Thom Greene, Nadeen Kieren and Douglas Kotoske.

Long time Andersonville residents Thom Greene and Nadeen Kieren are devout community neighbors whom have deep ties and relationships in the area. Thom Greene is one of the lead architects and founders of Greene & Proppe Design. He has spent years contributing work and time to beautifying the neighborhood’s streetscapes, homes, neighborhood signage, as well as other locally owned businesses.

Nadeen is the owner of Greensky, one of Chicago’s prized ‘eco-friendly’ boutiques and can always be found at the shop greeting everyone with a smile. Douglas Kotoske has been a long time colleague of Fossey’s and worked with him for several years, initially at Chicago’s Spiaggia and then Andersonville’s Anteprima. Leah Allen hails from Wicker Park’s Azzurra, which recently closed their doors at the end of 2014.

The collaboration of owners envision Summerdale as ‘a simple, colorful, local spot for meeting, eating, drinking and reflecting on Andersonville’s local charm and history.’ One of Summerdale’s owners Thom Greene (also known as the Godfather of Andersonville) tells the Edgevillebuzz, “Our new partnership just reinforces the local- ‘ness’ of Andersonville. When we’re on vacation, we always ask people, ‘Where do the locals go?’  We want the answer here to be, ‘Summerdale’.”
