Andersonville’s Goddess and Grocer To Close End Of August

There was much excitement in Andersonville when The Goddess And Grocer owner Debbie Sharpe announced the opening of her next location in our neighborhood. However, after just 14 months at the new store at 5318 N. Clark, it will officially close at the end of this month.

Sharpe has catered for big name celebrities s Justin Timberlake, Paul Simon, The Grateful Dead, Phish, Jay-Z and Sting. But in 1990, she decided to settle in Chicago and eventually started her retail business in 2004.

Sharpe said that she loves Andersonville, however it was time to move on, as she has been offered other projects. Her focus will be on her main location at 1649 N. Damen Ave in Bucktown, the additional 5 stores and her catering business.

The restaurant, which occupies 1,600 square feet and patio space in what had been Einstein Bros. Bagels (which closed in February, 2015 due to poor performance), will permanently shut its doors on August 27.
