A New Sugar Fix! Candy Store Opening In Andersonville

candyThere is a new candy store coming to Andersonville at 5225 N. Clark at the southeast corner of the Clark and Farragut intersection. The location is the previous home of the high-end unique furniture store ‘The White Attic‘ that closed back in November, 2014. ‘Coming Soon!’ signs were put up on the windows several days ago to let the Andersonville community know that sugar is in our future. The local Chicago chain Candyality will be opening their fourth location along the Clark St. corridor. They intend to open in mid-April and have had a fairly easy move-in thus far, with minimal changes to the space, aside from fresh paint and moving in their customized equipment.

Candyality labels itself as ‘Chicago’s sweetest independent retail destination’ with multiple locations around the city. It is a unique experience like none other. Owner, Terese McDonald, is a local born and bred Chicago-an. She spent years as a sales and training executive and in 2007, decided to pursue her dream, opening up the first location of Candyality. The store carries all kinds of goodies, bulk items, sweet sensations, chocolates, jellies, gummies, bubble gums and plenty of gift package type gifts for all of your sweet tooth friends and events. With locations in Lakeview, Water Tower Place, the shops at North Bridge, soon to be Andersonville and delivery available, this sugary boutique is on a mission to deliver fixings to any and every type of sugar fanatic living in Chicago. Candyality_Andersonville

Terese prides her business on being able to find each customer a particular type of sweet indulgence that aligns with both their personality type and their preferred desert craving. The staff is trained on how to match the appropriate convection with the right person, event, corporate gathering, wedding or any other excuse one can find to indulge.

When asked about why they chose Andersonville, owner Terese explains, ‘We have always been looking for new spaces to expand our business. One of our goals is to be known as Chicago’s hometown candy store. Andersonville has always been attractive to us because we know they support independent retailers and are a close-knit community. We are well run, hire local people and care about the community. People overlook how small businesses supply jobs for people and that is so critical to the economy. We feel obligated to do that, among other things that add to the surrounding area”.

Terese is so happy to soon be a part of our neighborhood. She explained, ” We are excited about this neighborhood in particular because of how nationally recognized it is, as one of the top places to live in the country. When the space became available, it was an obvious top-choice for us. As there isn’t a candy store in Andersonville, we are able to enhance the community even more, rather than competing with another candy-focused store. When the opportunity presented itself, it made it easy to move the project forward with ease. When the universe makes something so easy, it just feels right.”
