10-Year-Old Girl Escapes Kidnapping Attempt In Edgewater

Chicago Police have issued a community alert for the 24th District in Edgewater after a 10-year-old girl was inappropriately touched and grabbed by a male offender. She was able to escape the incident.

Around 7:45 a.m. on Monday, the girl was walking westbound on the 1000 block of Thorndale when a man slapped her on the buttocks. She began to quickly walk away when he then grabbed her wrist to pull her closer to him. The juvenile victim was able to break away and flee the situation. The offender fled southbound on Kenmore.

The suspect is described as a white male 30-40 years of age with short red hair, red goatee, blue eyes, and tattoo on his neck. He was wearing a white Columbia jacket with brown flaps.
