Edgewater will continue its love for the creative arts this weekend as it hosts over 100 Chicago-based artists at the Edgewater Art Festival this Saturday and Sunday.

Now entering its sixth year, both music and art will take center stage in the area on September 29-30, from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. The event, which is hosted by Edgewater Artists in Motion, will take place at 1030-1140 W. Granville, between Broadway and Sheridan (just off the “L” Red Line Granville Stop). Admission cost is a suggested donation of $5.

According to a press release for the event, there will be a juried process with original works in painting, drawing, photography, hand-made jewelry, glasswork, illustration, pottery, mixed media and functional/wearable art. Featured artists include photographs by Kevin Flynn, paintings by John Cooper, Kathy Gemperle ceramics and glass and jewelry by Peter Brenner.

To accompany the sights there will also be three stages of great sounds with co-headliners Great Moments in Vinyl (featuring music of the Beatles, David Bowie and Fleetwood Mac) and La Tosca (featuring Italian and Latin influences). There will be twenty acts and over 50 performers spanning jazz, reggae, blues, funk, flamenco, African drumming, Americana, pop/rock, classical music, barbershop and choir singing to create a rich musical backdrop for the two-day event.

“The festival is a fantastic family event because there is so much to see and experience,” said Rae Ann Cecrle, president of Edgewater Artists in Motion.  “The array of art is a feast for the eyes. The variety of music is pure joy for the ears. We love seeing how families interact with the artists at this event. It truly draws our community together.”

The event will also have a hospitality room available at Gallery 1070, an art gallery located at 1070 Granville. On Saturday night there will be a party at Gallery 1070 with Great Moments in Vinyl performing Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” album in its entirety to 100 attendees. Your $20 donation includes two glasses of Arrogant Frog, the featured fine French wine of the festival. For more information on pre-sold tickets, prices, and details contact info@edgewaterartists.com.

The Edgewater Art Festival will also include craft beers and food from Granville Ave. restaurants. For More information on the event, go to the Facebook event page.
