Anticipating Their Andersonville Debut, Chicago Magic Lounge Names New Managing Director

What was once a bland storefront at 5050 N. Clark Street, is expected to get a total overhaul into the city’s newest stage featuring Chicago’s best magicians.

Chicago Magic Lounge’s Andersonville debut, which was originally supposed to be this December, has been pushed forward to 2018 as the company seeks a zoning change from a B3-2 up to a B3-5 designation. The change will allow the Magic Lounge to proceed with their vision which includes a one-story addition to the property so patrons can watch shows from an upper viewing area.

The new space, will offer the company a full-time gig in a 120-seat cabaret theater with a separate 40-seat ‘1920s-style, speakeasy-type bar’ called the 654 Club. The venue will occupy around 6,000 sq. ft., where a former commercial laundry service used to be.

In anticipation of the move, Chicago Magic Lounge announced the new Managing Director last week, Wisconsin native Lesley Stone. She comes to the company with a wealth of knowledge in the theatre industry.

“Lesley will be instrumental in shaping the future of our new theater at 5050 N. Clark St,” according to the company Facebook page. “She has a background in technical theatre with an emphasis on stage management, and has built a twenty five year commitment to managing productions of all sizes and advocating artists of all types.”

The owners currently operate Chicago Magic Lounge two days a week on Thursday and Saturday (Wednesdays they do mind readings) at the Uptown Underground theater, 4707 N. Broadway. The shows feature up to six magicians each night who perform close-up magic, bar magic, and stage magic.

This place is going to thrive! Excellent staff picks. They hired a great F&B director, Nick J., too!
