Edgewater And Andersonville Organizations Look To The Community This Giving Tuesday

Care For Real #GivingTuesday

It was four days of retail bliss as corporations produced deals to lure shoppers on Black Friday, local shops counter punched on Small Business Saturday and the internet claimed their own piece of the pie on Cyber Monday. However, today is the day to give back to organizations who need your support.

Started in 2011, Giving Tuesday was created by Lakeview’s Mary-Arrchie Theater Company and then Producing Director Carlo Lorenzo Garcia to ask their patrons for crucial funds to help their small theatre survive. Ironically, the company closed in 2015 after their space was marked to be torn down to make way for a new development. It never reopened.

The small theater however, will always be known as the guiding force that powered the #GivingTuesday movement that has balanced out the retail madness of the days prior. Though donations should never be limited to just one day, it is now that organizations both large and small humbly ask for your support to help provide necessary funding so they may continue their important work.

Please consider donating to Edgewater and Andersonville organizations today. Here are a few suggestions:

Edgewater Dog Park – The lakefront space is 100% community supported. Unfortunately, the canine playground has faced a huge dilemma with heavy rains and rising Lake Michigan water levels. Urgent landscaping is crucial for its survival and Edgewater Mayor Pax the Goat has started a bi-paw-tisan fundraiser to help.  CLICK HERE TO GIVE
