Three Local Restaurants Make Michelin 2020 Bib Gourmand List, Two Are Removed

Michelin’s celebrates its ninth year in Chicago with the 2020 Bib Gourmand awards. This year three Edgewater and Andersonville restaurants made the coveted list, while two were removed.

The Bib Gourmand list showcases restaurants that serve high-quality food while making it possible to order two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less (tax and gratuity not included). With 54 Chicago businesses earning the Michelin restaurant guide book award this year, 14 of those are new additions while 18 were removed.

Two Edgewater Eateries, Herb (5424 N. Broadway) and Mango Pickle (5842 N Broadway), as well as Andersonville’s Passerotto (5420 N Clark) return once again for the 2020 honors. Hopleaf (5148 N Clark) and Jin Thai (5458 N Broadway), who made the list for 2019 were removed this year.

However, both Hopleaf and Jin Thai were among ten Edgewater and Andersonville restaurants that can be found in the guide because the cuisine uses fresh ingredients, is carefully prepared, and considered by them to be a good meal. The other five restaurants are Big Jones (5347 N. Clark), Jin Ju (5203 N. Clark), Ras Dashen (5846 N. Broadway), Pearl’s Southern Comfort (5352 N. Broadway), and Vincent (1475 W. Balmoral).

The most noteworthy fact about all the local restaurants on the list is the diverse food that is represented including Indian, Thai, Korean, Ethiopian, Belgian, Southern and Gastropub. All Michelin Guide honors in Chicago can be found here.
