Ruff N’ Stuff Closed, Famous Fido/Happy Tails Relocating

ruufnstuffKathy Puryear, the owner of Andersonville’s pet store Ruff N’ Stuff, sadly passed away a few weeks ago after a brief illness. The store has been in the neighborhood for 28 years and many were familiar with Kathy, her bright colored parrot and her German Shepard dog that sat at her side at the front of the store. A few days ago,  the business announced on Twitter that they would be shutting their doors for good after Labor Day weekend by simply saying, “Ruff N’ Stuff closes this weekend after 28 years in Andersonville.”

Ruff N’ Stuff had a loyal following, as it offered a great deal more than just pet supplies. There was a memorial held in the back of the business a couple weeks ago filled with volunteers from Famous Fido, pet lovers and furry friend advocates alike. Besides carrying your favorite dietary pet food, Ruff N’ Stuff contributed greatly to the community by helping rescue animals and by being a long-time local and independent business.

RNSIn addition, The store was the home of Famous Fido Rescue, an organization run by Gloria Lissner who is dedicated to building a “no more homeless and no kill nation” for pets and animals. It was also the location of Ms. Lissner’s Happy Tails Grooming Salon which carried a baked goods section with all types of doggie treats. Famous Fido reported to us “We are currently looking for a new location. We will remain in the current location for the next 30 to 60 days. Famous Fido and Happy Tails will not be going out of business.”

We are sad to see the businesses go and our condolences to Kathy’s friends and family. We will report on any news of Famous Fido/Happy Tails relocation.
