Man Critically Wounded In Edgewater Shooting, Reports Of Earlier Gunfire

A man was critically injured this morning around 1:20 a.m. in Edgewater.

gunsThe victim was driving southbound in the 5900 block of Winthrop when someone opened gunfire from the sidewalk. The man was hit in both the abdomen and hand. He drove himself to the emergency room at Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston. He is listed in critical condition.

Earlier yesterday there were other reports of gunfire along Winthrop Ave. The first report came from EVB Facebook users around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday commenting on shots fired at Catalpa and Winthrop followed by a heavy police presence. The second report came at about 2:50 p.m. concerning shots fired at Glenlake and Winthrop.

There has been no confirmation if the shootings were related. There has been no arrests as of yet.
