Hamburger Mary’s Shuts Down/License Suspended

HamburgerMary1On the day of one of the most spirited drinking Holidays of the year, the City of Chicago has shut down Andersonville’s popular party spot Hamburger Mary’s at  5400 N. Clark St.

Those Saint Patrick’s Day partiers who don’t know about the closing will be greeted by locked doors and a large neon green sticker on the window with the words ‘License Suspended’ across it.  It was dated March, 17 2015.

Another sign was also on the door that reads “”Sorry we are closed today. Having kitchen issues.” Usually when these type of notices are found on an unlucky establishment, it is due to some sort of health code violation.

EVB tried to contact Hamburger Mary’s, but there was no answer. It is unclear if the adjoining bar, Andersonville Brewing Company, will also be closed. Both are under the same ownership.

Ok – stop blaming the city and the overzealous inspectors. The place should be clean 100% of the time. The owner is not the victim – it is the poor unsuspecting patrons who are.

I wouldn’t read “blame” or “overzealousness” into the word “unlucky”. :) Maybe it wasn’t the best word choice, but I don’t think the good folks at Edgeville Buzz are at all opposed to rigorous city inspections of Edgeville eateries. My take on the Buzz’s post is…well…that it is reporting the news in a neutral way. :)

Unclean = no business from me.

I normally don’t care about having my beef a little dirty before putting it in my mouth but when I’m eating that’s not acceptable.

A friend had ants in her water, and a rodent dropping. Happy they were cited! Sometimes the dancing waiters and staff just don’t pay attention….having too much fun. But it’s no fun going home with a stomach ache. Nice to see they are open again. We love the place but please don’t make us sick.
