Fido to Go! Our Favorite Pet Food Truck Coming Soon

FTG RN Promo 002

Spring is in the air and Fido is cheerfully wagging his tail burying the latest polar vortex deep in Chicago’s historical past!  What could make your canine companion happier than dry paws and fur waving in the warm breeze?  Perhaps a wholesome, no additives or sugar and gluten-free doggie snowball donut will help your pup forget Jack Frost, at least for now.

Owned and operated by Donna Santucci, Fido to go™ is the nation’s first cat and dog “gourmutt” treat truck of its kind since 2011.  Featured in moderndog and Crain’s Chicago Business magazines, the bright yellow truck that hauls its motto, “Eat, Play, Love” is like the Good Humor ice cream wagon, except for pets with paws – well cats and dogs at least.  In an attempt to feed Maddie her dog healthy treats, Santucci developed a wide range of healthy recipes.  The truckload of goodies includes a variety of cookies, several kinds of frozen yogurt (including ‘hockey puck’ and ‘duck & sweet potato’ flavors) and other kinds of treats, as well as all natural cakes and Bowser Beer to help celebrate your canine’s catered birthday party along with games and fun activities. After a recent brainstorming session, Donna and her bakers whipped up Peanut Butter Maple Fi-Yo Frozen Yogurt.

Donna Santucci has been in the pet industry for about ten years and is also a certified canine and feline groomer.  Pawtucci Pet Spa, also owned by Santucci, uses organic and USA obtained pet products.   Fido to go™ is in the process of growing national and international licensing opportunities.  Donna offers a percentage of the month’s featured treat to a selected charitable organization, “We donate 10% of one treat on different months to the CPD K-9 Unit, CFD Pups such as Freckles from West Loop Firehouse and United States Military Pups. People tend to forget about these service pups. It’s unfortunate that these service pups are supported financially by the employees (K-9 Unit Handlers, Firefighters and Military Men & Women) and not through the City of Chicago, State or U.S. Government including, bullet and stab proof Vests for the K-9 Unit Police Dogs. Every little bit helps, so we try our best to help them,“ Santucci said.

Weather permitting you will see a cheerful Santucci and friendly staff making the rounds at Chicago festivals, dog-friendly beaches, local parks and your community.  Keep an eye on the schedule regularly updated on their Facebook page.  It’s not clear whether Santucci would groom your dog at home or from the truck while making the rounds through your area, but the bright yellow truck is the ideal place for a doggie date and place to gather around the “water cooler” next time it rolls around the neighborhood.  “If it weren’t for our customers and their support as well as media outlets and cross promoting with other businesses, we would not be successful. We are much more grateful than they realize,” Donna told the Edgeville Buzz.
