Edgewater’s New Locally Owned Bakery, Edge Of Sweetness, Opens Today

Edge-of-sweetness-1Broadway Ave. in Edgewater keeps on growing as it welcomes its newest locally-owned business, The Edge of Sweetness. Kate Merrill and Paige Tyler, Chefs and Co-Owners of the Bakery located at 6034 N. Broadway, have announced they will officially open for business today.

The new bakery not only will be a community-based hangout where people can nosh on fresh baked goodies and sip on a hot cup of coffee, but will also be a place where other chefs who are starting or building their own culinary businesses can cook. The new, large space is 3,200 sq ft, large enough to allow for events, parties, and cooking classes. A large outdoor patio will be introduced for the summer months.

According to a statement from a recent Indigogo campaign that helped launch the business, the duo said, “We met last year while building our individual bakery brands at a local shared kitchen. We instantly connected – sharing a passion for quality homemade baked goods and a dream to own a neighborhood bakery.  It didn’t take long for us to merge our existing bakery brands, and Edge of Sweetness was born!”

Doors will open at 7 a.m. until they close at 8 p.m. A special ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 3 p.m. with Alderman Harry Osterman.
