Senn High School Put On Lockdown After A Student Was Seen With A Gun

A quick action plan was put into place causing Senn High School at 5900 N. Glenwood Ave. to be put on lockdown after a student witnessed a classmate with what appeared to be a pistol.

The incident happened in a bathroom at the institution on Monday morning around 11 a.m. according to Chicago police spokeswoman. A student walked into the lavatory when he noticed another teen with a gun.

That student walked out of the bathroom and called his mother to explain what he saw. The parent immediately called the school who then notified Senn’s Resource Officer, a CPD employee.

Senn High School was put on lockdown soon after and security camera footage was used to locate the suspects. In a statement put out by Ald. Harry Osterman this afternoon, two students were ultimately arrested and two pellet guns confiscated.

CPD did say that the students were not threatening anyone with the guns. Charges are pending.
