Program To Honor International Transgender Day Tomorrow In Andersonville

Tomorrow, November 20 is International Transgender Day of Remembrance. To help honor the special day, an Andersonville group will be holding a very special event to mark the occasion.

Chicago Therapy Collective’s Trans-Inclusive Andersonville! is a group dedicated to making Andersonville the most explicitly trans-inclusive neighborhood in Chicago and to define what it means. They have created the local event not only to recognize the precious lives that have been lost due to violence against trans people but also to celebrate the trans people in our lives that are still with us. It will take place at the Andersonville Galleria (5247 N. Clark) from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and will include speakers, performances, a brief ceremony, and refreshments.

According to a press release for the event, it will also include a panel discussion in which people can learn about the importance of being a Trans-Inclusive business directly from transgender and gender non-conforming individuals who may be hesitating to access goods and/or services. Panelists will discuss a number of issues that pertain to accessing all types of businesses in Chicago including those focused on health, wellness, and beauty services.
