A new art studio will be opening on Broadway Ave. this summer. According to a sign posted on the window, RAM Art Studio will be offering a wide range of artistic techniques including pottery, ceramics, painting and glass fusing classes. They will also offer classes, pre-k and after school programs, workshops, party rental opportunities and gallery space.

They will be located in the old Sifu Design Studio at 6054 N. Broadway which closed back in January. RAM Art Studio is a part of a growing trend of locally-owned, art-focused businesses that focus on creativity and classes.

Aartwerk Studio, which is right around the corner at 1141 W. Granville Ave. opened earlier this year. Vignette/Vignette, located at 5407 N Clark, opened a year ago in Andersonville.

RAM Art Studio owner ​Rebecca McNealy says she is not only an artist, but also a teacher. She has shown her artwork in the past at many local creative shows including Edgewater’s own Fall Art Fair.

McNealy wrote on her website, “Being an artist is part of who I am. I can not imagine a day where art, in some form, is not included. Making art helps me express myself, relax, and it is something I can do for hours at a time. I make art because it is fun and has always been a part of my life.”
