Moments after porch collapse. WGN news.

Three people were sent to the hospital due to injuries sustained during a porch collapse in Andersonville during a house party to celebrate Midsommarfest.

According to the party’s host, Clayon Terrill, there were about 75 people in attendance during the celebration on the 5400 block of N. Ashland. approximately 20 people were on the second-story porch when it collapsed, which sent them tumbling to the ground level.

Party attendee Mark Mills told WGN news, “I was inside with a few other people and all of a sudden we just like heard a big noise so we all ran to the back, and it was obvious as soon as we got there through like the french doors you could see the whole porch was gone.”

No one was seriously injured from the incident. According to reports, one person had a fractured leg, another a fractured wrist and the DJ (who was playing underneath the deck) received a head injury. All three were taken to area hospitals in good condition.

Terrill told WGN that his landlord had bought the property two years back and the porch had been fully inspected.
