Edgewater Chamber Director Stepping Down After Almost 7 Years Of Service

After 6.5 years of service leading the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce, its Executive Director Katrina Balog will be stepping down and accepting a new position at a Chicago area urban planning firm.

Balog was named the new Director of Operations at Muse Community + Design. Her last day at the Chamber will be Friday, August 23. However,  she will be continuing on part time until an interim director is found.

During her time in the position, Balog provided a fresh take at the chamber utilizing her education in urban planning. She worked to bring many new businesses to the area and helped revitalize the Broadway Ave. corridor. New programs under her leadership improved the neighborhood including several public art installations and murals, custom bike racks and tree care. Balog was also instrumental in developing many new events including the Women’s Day Crawl.

“I enjoyed helping shape the Chamber into an organization that is relevant to the member businesses, responsive to their needs and an asset to the community as a whole,” Balog told EVB. “I’ve loved working with so many people who are committed to the neighborhood and eager to help one another succeed. It’s such a positive, supportive environment.”

The Edgewater Chamber of Commerce board is currently looking for the next Executive Director. They are seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial leader to work with the Board of Directors to implement their mission to create and support a thriving business environment and who will contribute to a vibrant Edgewater community. Resumes can be emailed by Monday, August 5 to jobs@edgewater.org. Contact the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce for more information.
