Edgefest 2013 (volunteers wanted!)
The Edgewater Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for EdgeFest - the second year running of the neighborhood street festival which will take place August 3-4 on Broadway from Thorndale to Ardmore. For the event, the Chamber is currently seeking volunteers to help at the event including working the gates and beer tents. If you’d like to volunteer your time (you’ll get a free beer and t-shirt!), please email email@example.com with “EdgeFest Volunteer” in the subject line and they’ll send you more information.
For those just wanting to join the party, the event will feature entertainment, food, beer, kids’ stuff, and more. The music lineup was recently announced, and includes bands such as:
Mar Caribe – an instrumental band playing covers of movie themes, classical pieces, 60s ballads, surf, and cowboy songs
The South Boulevard – a dynamic group of Chicago music scene veterans playing funky blues
This Must Be the Band – a Talking Heads tribute band
Yacht Rockets – 11 piece Chicago band playing smooth contemporary sounds ala Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald and Steely Dan
Last year’s event drew mixed reactions and a thin crowd despite a bacon theme and a music lineup with popular cover band 16 Candles. However, it was the first year of the event and the weather didn’t exactly cooperate last year as Edgewater tried to enter the popular but saturated street festival market. Here’s to hoping this year is a success and EdgeFest becomes a long running success.
