Chicago’s Shoreline Motels Presentation
The Edgewater Historical Society will host Forgotten Chicago’s Patrick Steffes for a presentation on Chicago’s Shoreline Motels. The organization describes the event as “an exploration of Chicago’s Shoreline Motels in a presentation of rare and little-seen images.” Edgewater was home to three of such motels near the intersection of Sheridan Road and Foster Avenue, that took advantage of the proximity to the famous Edgewater Beach Hotel.
Forgotten Chicago is a group dedicated to discovering and documenting little know elements of Chicago, everything from architecture, infrastructure, the neighborhoods and history. Check out their overview of the North Side’s shoreline motels on their website here.
This event will be held Saturday, July 20th at 1pm at the new Edgewater Branch Library at 6000 N Broadway. April’s event was standing room only, so don’t miss out this time around!
