Carjacker Beats And Robs Man In Edgewater Before Stealing His Car

A man who was exiting his parked vehicle in Edgewater last Thursday was beaten and robbed by an armed suspect before he stole the victim’s car.
The incident happened around 10:35 p.m on April 30. According to police, the 32-year-old victim was getting out of his parked vehicle on the 5800 block of N Kenmore when he was pushed by a masked man with a weapon from behind.
The suspect then hit the man over the head with an object that might have been a handgun. He then robbed the man of his wallet, phone, and car keys. The suspect fled the scene with the victim’s car, a blue 2019 Toyota Camry with a license plate beginning with BG385.
The suspect is described as a black male between 18 and 30 years of age, standing 5’10” to 6′ feet tall, and weighing between 160 to 175 pounds. He was wearing a black ski mask and a black puffy coat.
No one is in custody at this time. Area 3 detectives are looking into the incident.
